Environmental, Social & Governance at Payscale
Introduction
Here at Payscale, we are continually looking for new ways to “pay it forward”. This includes our commitment to creating and maintaining a business and workplace that is ethical, inclusive, fair, and sustainable. Just as we believe in and help our customers to develop thoughtful pay practices, we believe these areas are essential to a successful business.
In 2024, we are striving towards transparency on all fronts, not just pay! That is why Payscale has created an externally facing report, to display where we are today and where we are heading tomorrow. As a company, we are proud of how far we have come, but know there are also many areas to be improved.
How we Operate
Payscale is a remote-first, inclusive company, offering a cloud-based HR solution. At Payscale, we believe that fair pay is an essential element of a successful business. We aim to make fair pay an integral part of everyday compensation management, allowing customers to maximize their talent investments by making fair pay decisions grounded in data. Payscale engages in annual ESG and compliance audits to ensure we continue to develop and grow, as well as to stay consistent with industry best practices.

Products
- Our products support organizations' compliance with pay transparency laws by efficiently creating competitive, equitable ranges and addressing pay compression.
- Embedded data insights can quickly surface pay gaps or internal inequity that may exist to help customers comply with Federal/State Pay Equity laws.
- We provide curated compensated data and technology to help streamline market benchmarking in line with their compensation strategies, and aid companies in communicating compensation to their employee populations.
- Our Pay Equity product helps companies evaluate whether any pay gaps exist and allows them to make a plan to close any gaps.

Sustainability and Sustainable Procurement
Payscale values having as light a touch on the planet as possible. As a fully remote software company, we have the benefit of no commuting, no delivery trucks and no big factories.
In 2023, we rolled out a Payscale Sustainability Policy that will provide the framework for us to track and limit our carbon emissions, specifically:
- Continuing to be a remote-first company and cloud-based solution. Investing in our ability to do great work from home saves hundreds of employees from commuting to and from an office each day.
- Offering regional meetings where possible, rather than having all employees travel farther to one location for in-person meetings.
- The Payscale Expense Policy encourages employees to utilize electric ride share options while traveling, along with opting to carpool and take trains or public transportation.
