Busy.
Transportation Coordinator:
Pros: Working with a diverse group of people in a fast paced environment.
Cons: It can sometimes be incredibly stressful: multiple phone lines ringing, answering phones and taking calls for assistance over a two way radio system, while answering questions from people standing at my desk. Making decisions all day long.
October 2015
Training.
Transportation Coordinator:
Learn the product that you ship. I had very little training at the time that I started and learned throughout the years. Permits for special loads, job locations, job sites. What all of the different types of trucks are ie? Flat beds, step decks, low boys, enclosed trailers, connestoga's. I track shipments daily, compare rates for dedicated trucks as well as air and LTL shipments. Let salespeople know the status of their orders. When they will be able to ship. File claims, look for lost shipments. I am the communication person with outside processors and sales dept. Make sure that all other departments get my information that is needed in a timely manner.
