Toddler Teacher Reviews
What is it like working as a Toddler Teacher?
November 2015
Everyday is challenging. Each child is unique.
Toddler Teacher:
Pros: I love that what I have learned helps understand each child's unique development. The challenges of daily behaviors and struggles I go through is what drives me to become better at understanding each child's developmental needs.
Cons: The pay does not allow us to get a head in life. A lot of educators are good at their job but leave and switch careers because we study so much on sphychology and development and in the end were stuck in debt from with student loas and living paycheck to paycheck.

The right place to work.
Toddler Teacher:

Teaching Toddlers.
Toddler Teacher:
Pros: I like most being able to help toddlers see things in a new light.
Cons: I don't like the gossip that goes on in the work environment. I also don't like the feeling of being looked down on by others with more experience.

How to get more money in this field.
Toddler Teacher:
If your in it for the money its not the right job. Patience is a big quality you must have to work with us age group. Also a good group of team teachers.

Best job ever.

No as easy as it seems.
Toddler Teacher:
Often people think that looking after children is the easiest job in the world and that it requires little intellect.
As rewarding as it is the job requires patience, lots of paperwork, and an understanding of all legislation that effects you and the children on a daily basis.

Network, Network, Network.
Toddler Teacher:
GET INFANT/TODDLER UNITS (if required by state; it is a requirement in California) ASAP!!!! FIND A MENTOR. ASK SOMEONE TO BE YOUR MENTOR. ASK FOR HELP ALWAYS!
Those 3 units...I've seen time and time again come back and haunt people in the field. It makes for a scheduling nightmare when there are too many people without those Infant/Toddler units. I've always stayed to myself. It never occurred to me to ask questions about my career, where I wanted it to go, and how to get there. I've met some incredible women in the field and learned a ton from them, but I never used what I learned to advance my career. Now, I'm stuck. Take it from me. It really is about WHO you know. Be friendly and cordial to everyone you meet. Ask questions whenever you can and don't be afraid of responsibility. And if you don't love what you're doing, don't wait until you do. Save yourself the heartache and move on to something else.
