Strategy Manager in Austin:
Strategy at Dell is very different from management consulting strategy. The role is very focused on menial data analysis to support business owners. There are a lot of very smart talented people at Dell in strategy roles that are underutilized because of organizational politics. If you really want to do strategy work built good relationships with people who are smart and came from solid backgrounds and get their advice on how to move to a solid management consulting firm. Otherwise find a more impact role in Dell's org that you have a passion for and start driving your career in that direction. People are pretty nice and will help you get where you want to go in you ask for their help and show genuine interest. One last word of advice - if you are an MBA student looking for their first job out of school avoid Dell. They undervalue MBAs in terms of pay and career development.
October 2015
