Sports Reporter Reviews
What is it like working as a Sports Reporter?
November 2018
A comfortable lifestyle.
Sports Reporter in Cape Town:
Pros: convenience and being close to family; opportunities in the industry
Cons: Salaries are generally lower in Cape Town
February 2015
Fun (yet stressful) job, but undervalued.
Sports Reporter:
Pros: I get to write about sports for a living. Usually, it's a fun environment.
Cons: Our employer doesn't see fit to review our salaries on a yearly basis. No pay increases in three years. Staff has been cut from three to two in our department, yet we are responsible for covering the same area without working more than 40 hours a week. Employer won't pay overtime unless it's approved, and only in rare situations.
July 2014
Job Outlook.
Sports Reporter:
Pros: Everyday is different and I love being able to work in a creative environment. You see improvement in your work and that makes me want to improve and become a better broadcaster.
Cons: Get ready to have to work odd and long hours for little pay at the start.
