Software Engineer in Tangerang:

July 2021
Low pay, no drive to improve.
Software Engineer in Santa Clara:
Pros: Mission
Cons: Tech company run by old school manufacturing people who don’t know how to compete in today’s market. Behemoth in its field ready to be toppled over the day a market disruptor rises. You will find the culture here is reactive to market and not proactive. They are the market leader and think just sitting on it is enough to continue to hold their market share. They pay engineering peanuts, management is only concerned about cutting cost even if it comes at the price of talent. Employees are disgruntled and try to work as less as possible to try and make themselves feel better about being underpaid. No motivation for innovation, no drive to make the best use of available and changing technology. If you spend too long here, you will loose market worthy skills and get sucked into this black hole of a career.
