Pros: Plenty of training if you want to do the work. Flexible schedule. Great team to work with. Lots of really good benefits. Discounts on Dell products.
Cons: On-call rotation. Pay is on the low side.

Pros: Everyday I have new problems to solve, it is not a regular job with the same procedures everyday.
Cons: There is lots of stress involved, because we are in a payments industry the pressure is high when something goes wrong.

Being able to stay in one company is unlikely, unfortunately. Advancement will come by changing positions as often as you've been able to learn something, and give a respectable amount of time to the employer. Try for two to three years working for a firm, unless you can gain a significant advancement every 18 to 24 months. Make your personal integrity, and best possible perfoance your watchword. Be inspired by something, because without that, it's going to be hard to keep up the pressure to perform better every day. Value the customer, both the good ones, the pleasant ones, and even the poor ones, because the easy ones will come to value you, and your performance and integrity doing so. The bad ones, will train you on diplomacy and humility.
