Senior Tax Analyst Review.
Senior Tax Analyst:
Pros: I work in the field of excise taxes and their are many constant new and developing changes within this field that keeps everything interesting. This field has many things to know and understand ,and I am always learning knew things and developing my knowledge of the industry. It is providing me with some management and training experience and is the reason I have been recently promoted. I also have a background in real estate development and construction and I get to touch on that while handling property taxes. The job is very laid back in the time I have to be at the office. I am able to arrive late or get there really early and can leave whenever I want. There is not a dress code and they are very laid back about your appearance, which is a great perk. My boss is typically very good to work with and we and everyone in our department have gotten along terrifically sense I have been there. Since I had started there 2.5 years ago I felt I was being treated fairly until the last 6 mo.
Cons: During tax compliance which is about 2 weeks out of every month things are very hectic and stressful with trying to meet deadlines. New people are starting to come into the office as we have had many people retire lately, which is starting to change the dynamic in the office, but as of today I am unsure if that is in a good or bad way. I was passed up at work, despite the fact that I had been running the excise tax area of the company for the last year and a half while our Excise Tax Manager, who was forced to retire from health reasons and being age 68. Of course I am still learning and asking questions but it really makes me feel as if I am not being valued as an employee the way the situation was handled. When they hired the new excise tax manager, they promoted me to senior with a minuscule pay increase for the amount of stress and work I had been and still undertaking.
