Senior Electronics Design Engineer Reviews

What is it like working as a Senior Electronics Design Engineer?

September 2019
Senior Electronics Design Engineer in San Jose:
Good things: 1. Work life balance. 2. 12-week full pay paternity leave. 3. Upper management is transparent and not talking like politicians. Bad things: 1. Benefits are not good. For example, quality of free coffee is poor; dental insurance is bad. 2. Compensation is not one of the highest even among hardware companies.

Experience and Degree Both Help.
Senior Electronics Design Engineer:
I do not have a formal degree, but rather a degree from the "school of hard knocks"- I.E., I taught myself. However, that experience has given me a breadth of understanding early in my career that does not come from book learning. At the same time, there have been times when having book knowledge from a college education would have been helpful. I did go to college, just not in engineering.

Lots of responsibilities.
Senior Electronics Design Engineer:
Pros: Involved in actual research and development.
Cons: Admin becomes more and more, not being really engineering work.
