Security Engineer in Fairfield:
Sacred Heart University is an amazingly satisfying place to work.
I have worked a number of other jobs, and this is the opportunity you actually look forward to landing and wonder if it really exists. Yes it exists, and it is here.
Agreed, it is work and commitment like any other employment opportunity, but there is a solid element of making a positive contribution at SHU and to the community as a whole. And that element can be a hard-to-find commodity in terms of a full-time job in a company. In fact, it's a needle in the haystack.
Also, you can innovate and make contributions here, and you can essentially create the environment you want if you have the drive.
The real icing on the cake is that, additionally, you can pursue the opportunity to teach part-time, if that is something you are interested in doing. It's a way to give back, get young minds excited, and perhaps offer them some career shortcuts to accelerate their careers.
So it's a true "full circle" dynamic. Exciting stuff.
No kidding.

Decent people, crappy city.
Security Engineer in Dublin:
Pros: Ireland as a whole is quite lovely, and it's got all the benefits of being part of the EU, so close for travel, worker protection, not too crazy in the office, etc.
Cons: It's way over priced, salaries don't match US equivalents, health care has issues, and it's over crowded.
