Research Scientist, Biotechnology Reviews
What is it like working as a Research Scientist, Biotechnology?
October 2019
Independent contribution to Science.
Research Scientist, Biotechnology in Edmond:
Pros: Freedom to explore different options to positively impact the society and world.
Cons: Politics
September 2019
5 years at qiagen.
Research Scientist, Biotechnology in Germantown:
Pros: Good people
Cons: no room for advancement. not competitive salary. They hire whoever will take their low ball offers. I think of Qiagen as the community college of jobs.
June 2019
Innovation will drive our industry.
Research Scientist, Biotechnology in Boulder:
Pros: The flexibility of schedule, and the ability to work independently on projects. I enjoy the fact our work has meaning to the people who take our products.
Cons: I think the work culture is slightly toxic and everything is in a state of flux. We do not have established performance reviews.
June 2019
Research Scientist, Biotechnology in Pleasanton:
The Digital Biology Group of Bio-Rad Laboratories in Pleasanton is developing cutting edge ddPCR and NGS technology. It is a lot of fun being part of this revolution. There are some growing pains as we evolve, requiring significant adaptation by employees. Employee retention is low and Bio-Rad is not industry competitive in pay. If you want to work here, you have to love what you do! There are opportunities to learn a lot here and we move at a fast pace, which I prefer to some of the long bureaucratic processes at other companies.
March 2019
Good work life balance.
Research Scientist, Biotechnology in Oxford:
Pros: free to innovate
Cons: No bonus
January 2019
Research Scientist, Biotechnology:
Over worked, ridiculously under pay (50% less than my current pay at the new company), racists, double standards, unappreciated. Previous managers sexist, favor toward male employer also East Asians! High stressed! Thermofisher huggers management layers instead of hiring employees.
December 2018
Research Scientist, Biotechnology:
The building is nice, the colleagues at your own level are nice, there are a couple of gem managers. Some will threaten you if you challenge pay unfairness. 10% pay increase for office, 2.5% for lab.
