Research & Development (R&D) Manager, Chemical Reviews

What is it like working as a Research & Development (R&D) Manager, Chemical?

June 2014
R&D Manager - Aristopet Pty Ltd.
Research & Development (R&D) Manager, Chemical:
Pros: Flexible hours. Team work as well as able to work alone (Fridays). Large network of close professionals off site, who both request and give advice freely. Both lab and desk duties. Have lots of experience in this industry and adjacent industries. Am good at my job.
Cons: Interruptions. Poor communication. Limited resources. No real innovation. Fixing others problems. Pay across majority of staff is poor. Feel alone in keeping moral high. Not challenging. Role has shrunk, with no defined career advancement. Office conditions - adjacent to lunch room -noise and smells. BM has little understanding of how much time is spent working off-site.
