Regional Sales Director Reviews

What is it like working as a Regional Sales Director?

Its All About Leadership.
Regional Sales Director:
Empower your people, challenge them, leverage their strengths, give praise often, take responsibility for when things go wrong vs. Throwing your people under the bus, keep your team focused on those few things that are central to driving your business and help them avoid those things or customers that will distract them from that purpose. Lastly, when hiring don't try to always get talent from your given segment, looking outside of your space, and sometimes giving someone who is hungry the opportunity can pay big dividends and open up new ideas.

Every Day Is Different.
Regional Sales Director:
Pros: You get to see meaningful changes in individuals performances every day. I can see variety across the group and share best practice. You still get the buzz of selling but vicariously having developed someone to be better than they were.
Cons: The hours vs pay ratio. Time on the road.

Travel Career Isn't For Everyone.
Regional Sales Director:
A travel character is fantastic, however the challenges for women are 1) being a mother; 2) being married; 3) being a single parent. Having language skills helps, but nearly all international market contacts speak English.
