When starting in an industry, make choices based on what you want to have happen in our life, not what needs to happen in your environment.
The issue with tradework is that almost anyone can start with very little experience. This attracts a certain kind of person, typically, who will have a tendancy to not choose what's right for your own life, but what's right at the time.
There's not necessarily a detriment to that, however, as you continue to work, avoid making the day to day tasks your primary focus. Avoid making the insrtuctions and tasks you are assigned, what matters most.
Instead, try to make deliberate choices about what YOU want your tasks to look like. Make decisions that revolve around what YOU want your life to look like, and allow that to motivate the choices you make about your tasks and projects.
This way, as you make mistakes, you can learn and adjust according to what your life plan needs, and not be totally invested in a work related identity.
