Project Engineer in Houston:
Both Companies seemed like they were better places to work before we were forced together in an ill-advised and poorly executed merger.
The cultures clashed, there are major pay differences which were supposed to be aligned at the end of 2019, but that exercise only addressed bonus structure.
The management that remains is concerned about preserving their own salary and bonuses, and job; and will happily toss employees under the bus to make themselves look better.
The year I remained with the company post-merger was one of the worst employment periods of my career.
The current economic issues have been quite tough on an already failing company, and a significant percentage of the workforce has been laid off. The company is scrapping modern rigs, a very bad sign for long term stability. Valaris isn’t long for this world.
Run far and fast. This isn’t a place you want to work.
