Program Director, Non-Profit Reviews
What is it like working as a Program Director, Non-Profit?
March 2023
Overworked, never evaluated.
Program Director, Non-Profit in Los Angeles:
Pros: The corporate heads are 30 miles away
Cons: Paid below average for working 10-12 hour days and weekends, no oversight to ensure stability of the program, basically exploits hard workers and takes a cut of program profits with very little to show for it
March 2023
As the Director of a Therapeutic Horsemanship program-I am passionate about the work I do.
Program Director, Non-Profit in Lancaster:
Pros: Providing services incorporating horses to help individuals learn, heal and grow.
Cons: The pay scale and the executive team lack of understanding regarding the field of equine/animal assisted therapy.
January 2023
Program Director, Non-Profit in Granite Falls:
Pros: I like the children that I work with as well as my immediate staff.
Cons: Admin tends to forget about us all the way out here and doesn't seem to care if we do well or not
October 2022
Patience and opportunity.
Program Director, Non-Profit in Louisville:
Pros: I love that Louisville is home and it feels like community.
Cons: It feels like you have to know "somebody" to get ahead.
October 2022
Non profit.
Program Director, Non-Profit in Bloomfield:
Pros: Flexibility, good cause
Cons: Poor compensation, extra responsibilities without extra compensation
July 2022
It is very rewarding to be involved in a program that helps so many people in finding a career that is fulfilling and will lead to an independent life.
Program Director, Non-Profit in Tampa:
Pros: The positive impact you can make in someone's life and also the impact that it has on our community.
Cons: I feel that because I have been at MacDonald Training Center for 12 years, I am viewed as someone who will take whatever they give even if it is not in line with what my responsibilities are or in line with others in a similar position. The qualifications for how salaries are determined is not transparent, and over the last year I have realized that I am not paid fairly compared to not just other team members, but I have always been paid below the industry average in all five positions that I have held in my career at MTC.
July 2022
It is an honor to be involved in a program that helps so many with disabilities become established and successful in their careers.
Program Director, Non-Profit in Tampa:
Pros: Directing a innovative program that gives people with disabilities the education, training, support, and opportunity to obtain a successful career within their community, one that earns a living wage that leads to an independent and fulfilling life of their choosing.
Cons: The inconsistencies in position qualifications and the salaries earned between team members of similar titles. There is also lack of communication on what a person can do to qualify for a higher salary because there isn't a lot of transparency regarding how that is determined.
