PD Manager Experience - Satisfying but Needs Equitable Pay.
Professional Development Manager:
Pros: Using my skills to address problems in my field and improve important learning and professional practice of our members, working with smart people who are conscientous in a professional environment, underground parking provided, decent benefits, nice office and free coffee plus fun social events.
Cons: Bureaucracy, some micro-management, waiting for permissions, obstacles to implementing simple, low risk beneficial solutions for members or staff, precedent of spending too much for lower quality or less desirable results, sense that my pay is not equitable internally or commensurate with my experience, qualifications and value add to the organization (i.e. 400K underspent; 70K carved out annually with different approach to program delivery while increasing quality of results).
