Principal Scientist Reviews

What is it like working as a Principal Scientist?

August 2021
30% Lab/70% Paperwork, Meetings, and Emails.
Principal Scientist in Pleasanton:
Pros: I enjoy working in the lab and analyzing data, esp w/JMP.
Cons: There are a lot of policies to follow as we are regulated by the FDA. There are too many meetings and emails.
February 2021
Great environment to work in.
Principal Scientist in Pietermaritzburg:
Pros: More relaxed working environment
Cons: Perhaps lower pay than other city centres
January 2021
Principal Scientist in San Antonio:
The whole experience was bad. No matter how good you are and how well respected you are, otherwise, woman have virtually no voice at all at SwRI. They will steel IP, customers, and seedling efforts away from those who cultivated them. They have no problem giving those efforts to their inhouse favorites whether they are qualified to do the task or not. In addition, I witnessed them provide male speakers with the upmost respect while not giving a female enough respect so she can get through the even just the second slide of a presentation. Its that bad.
December 2020
I absolutely love living and working in Melbourne.
Principal Scientist in Melbourne:

Cons: People are very imporsonal
March 2020
Making great and novel drugs to help those in need.
Principal Scientist in Needham:
Pros: Being able to work directly on drugs that will help a great number of people, some of whom would have very few good options.
Cons: The traffic to get there and not having enough people on our projects
August 2019
Exciting opportunities.
Principal Scientist in Franklin:
Pros: Independence
Cons: Not always a priority
June 2019
Intense,
Principal Scientist in San Francisco:
Pros: Managing young people, expressing my technical skills and executing my ideas.
Cons: my boss, the company up-tightness, the inability to talk freely, the hypocrisy of upper mismanagement, people who work with their mouse.
