Too Heavily Burdened.
Postal Service Mail Carrier in Phenix City:
Pros: Taking care of Customers and being outside a good bit of the day.
Cons: too much work and not enough employees to carry it most days..leading to regularly 12 hour days or some employees working 7 days a week with no relief in sight...working with out dated equipment or delivering in trucks with no air conditioning (with heat coming off engine into cab) or no heat in winter and working with no breaks.

Gone Postal (In A Good Way)
Postal Service Mail Carrier:
Pros: Reasons I love my job; 1. Its a great workout. There is no need to go to the gym. 2. The money is awesome, if you put in extra effort. Mail carriers can earn between $60,000 - $120,000 with overtime/double time factored in. 3. 3 weeks paid vacation to begin. 4. 7 days paid personal leave per year (Also known as paid sick days) 5. Great pension plan: Average of $3000/month (gross) 6. The benefits: Medical & Dental are at 80% coverage. 100% coverage for vision, prescription glasses, orthopedic shoes, RMT's , and more. 7. Only a 5 day work week. All long weekends off (paid) 8. Option to take a (one time and up to) 5 year leave of absence from work. 9. Job security. 10. Great Tips from customers during the Christmas holidays.
Cons: Reasons some people dislike this job are; (Not me) 1. Delivering mail in snow, rain, heat, extreme freezing temperatures. 2. Too physically demanding - Mail carriers can expect to be delivering for up to 5 hours outside. 3. Dangerous obstacles such as: aggressive Dogs, traffic at intersections. 4. Conditions during the winter: icy roads, side walks, stairs. 5. Conditions during the summer: heat exhaustion, dehydration, spiders in your face during house to house delivery. LOL. 6. Repetitive motions: Can cause Carpel Tunnel syndrome, arthritis in joints, shoulder & back pain. 7. Dry skin, hands, blistered feet.
