Pros: I like that I am actively helping people in emergency situations. Most of the people who call are having the worst day of their life and my voice has to be the thing that keeps them calm and sends them help. I feel really proud to be a 911 dispatcher.
Cons: I wish I got paid a little more. I have a child now and I need the extra income. Also, I didn’t get paid maternity leave. I got allowed 12 weeks of UNPAID FMLA after I had my child. I was not, and still am not, happy about that!
