Parts Counterman Reviews
What is it like working as a Parts Counterman?
July 2016
That the pay would not decrease.
Parts Counterman:
Get in writing that the pay you receive in the beginning is the bottom pay you will receive if there is no room for increase....I went from a bottom yearly pay of 44k with commission from tech hrs and 1.7perc to making 17 dollars an hr with .5 percent on gross sales lost a 1000.00 dollars a month in my pay.......make sure the pay is clear and not foggy....new car dealers will lie to you...and put you in the boat I'm in with lost income..and they do not care....period.....and I'm still there looking to move on to something better...
June 2016
Challenging and fast paced.
Parts Counterman:
Pros: Interaction with people.
Cons: Multitasking when it is the busiest part of the day.
May 2016
Limited room for advancement.
Parts Counterman:
Must know how to look up, order, and use the cataloging systems from multiple RV manufacturers. You must be aware of all the policies and procedures of said manufacturers, most importantly warranty policy for each. Mistakes in this area can be extremely costly to a company. As well as knowing manufacturer warranty and policy, you must also know individual appliance and luxury accessory component warranties carried by the great number of individual components. Along with the numerous individual coach builders and their different warranties etc., you must also know the warranties, and performance characteristics of the numerous drive train/chassis builders, (ie Ford, Freightliner, Workhorse etc.) Must know all gas and diesel automotive systems. This Includes drive train, suspension, electrical, fuel systems, on board 12v power generators, etc. Must also know residential constuction processes, 110 volt electrical, septic, plumbing, tile, woodworking, structural, satellite.
