Optometric Technician Reviews

What is it like working as an Optometric Technician?

March 2023
Optometric Technician in Rehoboth Beach:
Pros: They place the patient's experience/care high on their employees' primary job duties. They do well in keeping up with new and better equipment for us to work with and heeding our requests for repairs and/or replacements if needed and our patients like that we have the latest tools to serve them best. I also like that it's not too widespread, with offices across too many states, so still feels like a small business, not a franchise, and many of our patients like that.
Cons: Inequal pay and lack of pay transparency-pay does not necessarily equal skill and experience. Favoritism. Inadequate training for new hires/positions. Not enough push and incentive for education/certification in tech and optical feilds. Need more team-building, hands-on workshops/seminars.
March 2022
Love My Job, Hate Vision Source.
Optometric Technician in Lincoln:
Pros: I love the rest of the staff and patients. They really are my second family.
Cons: Vision source does not value me as an employee. I am currently the only person in office that is fully trained in pre-exam and reception. I am training 3 other staff members, and they are unwilling to pay me more than $15 an hour when they are hiring on at $16.
September 2021
Hit or miss.
Optometric Technician in District Heights:
Pros: pretesting patients, and being able to assist somehow in helping patients gain better vision.
Cons: lack of motivation and efforts from cowokers, including from higher positions. Unfair treatments and favortism from higher positions.
December 2020
It is fun, educational, productive and enjoyable helping patients with their vision and eye care.
Optometric Technician in Omaha:
Pros: I love that my coworkers are caring and comprehensive.
Cons: Some of employees are lazy or have other do the job for them.
September 2019
Optometric Technician in Tulare:
The pay is okay, the people I work with. Are great but the company doesn't care about the patients. They only care about how much you bring in to the company. It's all about numbers and not about how you should treat a patient . It's a money thing.
June 2019
A great learning experience.
Optometric Technician in Lee's Summit:
Pros: Working with patients and educating them.
Cons: Negative criticism from my manager.
May 2019
Optometric Technician in Fort Collins:
I was bullied and discriminated by this company. This lead me to report it to the EEOC and I was told I did not have a case for discrimination and they could not do anything about the bullying. The very ones that stand against bullying are the very ones that are bullying to cover up what they're doing. I still have in my possession a journal and other documentations provided by the office on my evaluations.
