Overworked And Underpaid, Long Hours
Occupational Health Nurse:
Pros: People contact, ergonomic assessments and seeing people improve, primary contact for on site serious accidents or assessments requiring further medical investigation, love training people and getting them back to work in a safe and timely manner.
Cons: The hours are long, the job of health in the workplace is not taken seriously - the focus is on SAFETY rather than health. Without a healthy workforce, productivity is low - so much research to back this up too. The pay does not reflect the multi-skilling of what an OHN does.
