What is it like working as a Membership Director?

May 2022
Great Place to Work.
Membership Director in Indianapolis:
Pros: I love being able to interact with the community of the YMCA! There are a lot of growth opportunities within the organization
Cons: The amount that you are paid is not enough for the amount of work and effort that you put in
December 2019
Asheville is bizarre.
Membership Director in Asheville:

Cons: Wages our outdated and the job market is dismal, difficult for young and educated professionals to develop a meaningful and rewarding career.
November 2019
Membership Director at AACC.
Membership Director in Alpena:
Pros: The sense of community.
Cons: Everyone knows everything about everyone
February 2019
Lovely Town.
Membership Director in Sandy:
Pros: Small town, people
Cons: Opportunities for jobs
January 2019
Great Experience.
Membership Director in Winston-Salem:
Pros: Meeting the needs in the community, insurance, flexibility
Cons: I feel undervalued and I feel like we can't be as effective as we could be because everyone is afraid to say what's really on their minds as if it is a personal attack. You can't get better if you don't address things that are uncomfortable.
January 2019
Membership Director in Boulder:
Pros: Location and people
Cons: Traffic, not as many opportunities as a city
September 2017
Easy going and relaxed, diversity.
Membership Director in Ann Arbor:
Pros: I love the diversity in Ann Arbor; in general, it is a relaxed and easy going town and there are lots of cultural offerings.
Cons: It is very clicky; if you have not been born/raised here or work at the U or gone to the University of Michigan, it's hard to fit in. The cost of living is very high.
