Medical Laboratory Technician Reviews
What is it like working as a Medical Laboratory Technician?
January 2020
The Upper-Middle Class of Jobs.
Medical Laboratory Technician in Jackson:
Pros: Reasonable workload. Some slower periods where you have time to check your work email and do any side projects or CAP testing that you need to do. Also a few busy blocks of time, where 3-4 hours of the shift may just be nonstop samples from both inpatient and from outreach (other facilities sending samples to this lab for more advanced testing then they can do). In the busy times, the shift goes by fairly quickly, and it’s generally not too loud.
Cons: It’s unavoidable, but cliques. At hiring, people are fairly friendly. But if you don’t become very very close friends with some of them immediately, you just end up a lab loner even if you’re friendly and help others. Cliques are established, and the social hierarchy is greatly more rigid than any cliche high school social structure.
Management is also fairly critical while still being very hands-off in the case of anyone above a supervisor role. In 3 years I have seen the lab director twice and the lab manager 3 times. However I misspelled a nurse’s last name on a lab report (only for documentation purposes To keep a clear picture of any details that may be important to know later, and do not effect anyone); within 48 hours I had an email pointing out the misspelled name. The name was 11 letters long and I had put “ss” instead of “s” so I had messed it up too badly to understand I guess?

Medical Laboratory Technician in Des Moines:
The co-workers were great, but the pay is below average and management took our analyzers away so the hospital can perform our tests. Why? Because the hospital was losing money and the clinics were making money. We're suppose to be a non-profit.

Goos.
Medical Laboratory Technician in Florence:
Pros: Opportunity
Cons: Work hours
November 2019
For starters, there are some awesome people here. But it’s more of a first time job career to get your feet in the field. So I would recommend this job as a first time job not somewhere to stay.
Medical Laboratory Technician in Memphis:

Cons: The lack of communication
September 2019
Not Good.
Medical Laboratory Technician in Davenport:
