Being in charge of other's lives.
Long Term Care Nursing Director:
Pros: I enjoy the connection I make with our residents, families, staff and peers. I enjoy being responsible for coming up with solutions to concerns, and including my team of staff to assist in those solutions.
I hold my expectations very high, and enjoy watching my team develop into self motivated, self initiating nursing staff.
Cons: The position of Director of Nursing can be challenging and overwhelming at times, to the point that I feel I do not know where to start with all the facets of my position I am responsible for. I particularly do not enjoy dealing with a nursing schedule.
