Working as an Optician: The Good and The Bad.
Licensed Dispensing Optician:
Pros: I truly enjoy working with customers. When things work out, it gives me great satisfaction knowing I've helped them. I also enjoy my fellow employees, we make a good Team.
Cons: My job is very limiting - no promotions based on merit and, the raises are a joke (my big raise was 48 cents). For the amount of time I've been an Optician and my years of Retail experience as a Manager, I am NOT paid for all of the education and experience I have. The only person making any money is the Store Manager, who is quite nasty and very unpleasant to be around. This makes going into work each day very difficult.
