Get work experience with a gardening or landscape company to learn the practical aspects of gardening. Read and learn about plants to familiarise yourself with how they are grown. Understand the plants behaviour within a given environment and how to identify pests and diseases. Have an interest in garden history and visit some open garden schemes to get an insight of various garden styles. You will need determination and patience working within the horticultural industry. Working in all facets of weather and demands from clients to achieve an desirable garden environment.
