October 2015
Education prepares you so little!
Journalist:
Don't rely only on your university degree. Although this may help you get the job you want in this day and age, it won't prepare you for half of what you'll be doing. So learn through experience. Do whatever you can to experience the media first hand, as early as possible, work for free even, if you can afford it, just so you can show people what you're capable of. And never stop learning! Don't think that once you have a degree you know everything about the media. The industry changes so much and so often that if you don't stay up to date, especially with new technologies and styles, you get left in the dust...Good luck!
