Investment Environment.
Investment Manager:
Pros: The diversity in the financial sector having been in banking as a Business/Relationship Manager in the Business & Corporate Banking Department at Nedbank Lesotho and now heading the Investment Division of the Public Officers' Defined Contribution Pension Fund, there is a link to capital markets development and improvement of financial welfare of individuals and our economy hence now completed all modules at Wits Business School in pursuing a Master of Management in Finance and Investment (MMFI) pending submission of a Thesis. I am very comfortable in the investment industry dealing more on the investment consulting issues other than an outright investments and financial engineering stream as a portfolio manager.
Cons: The job can rather be stressful on investments going wrong it be due to external market factors. This poses a condition of loss of principal value and exposes one to critical management of risk and Member dissatisfaction.

Investment Environment.
Investment Manager:
Pros: The diversity in finance having been in banking as a Business/Relationship Manager in the Business and Corporate Banking Department at Nedbank Lesotho and now heading the Investment Division of the Public Officers' Defined Contribution Pension Fund. This has a direct impact on socio-economic development with a direct bearing on my academic background hence I registered with Wits Business School in pursuit of a Master of Management in Finance and Investment (MMFI) now pending a Thesis submission.
Cons: The investment environment posts various risks relating to the return objectives in the market and my worst moments on the job is the stress related to investment decisions that are never popular with investors or pension fund members as their net-worth gets eroded.

Hard Work.
Investment Manager:
Early career is solid exams. Then they continue to examine more with increasing regulation. You must have an eye for detail. The ability to filter through large volumes of information and discern the important parts, and form independent opinion. Enthusiasm is not a must, but would make the job a lot easier and enjoyable. The ability to converse confidently to clients is important, and to convey complex investment solutions in a way the client can understand.
