Information Security Specialist Reviews

What is it like working as an Information Security Specialist?

April 2019
A lot of stuff to put in place.
Information Security Specialist in Montréal:
Pros: The human centered vision of the CEO is really the force of the company. The work/life balance, and the social decision took with this in mind are really something to be proud of.
Cons: Even if the CEO has a vision, not all managers share the same so they sometimes take action going against the word preached by higher management level. Also many managers are here "by default", without any background nor mentor helping them to be better manager ...
February 2019
Isolated.

Cons: Heard, but not listened to, Listened to, but not respected. Pigeon-holed!

September 2017
Work life balance, good management, corporate culture.
Information Security Specialist in Seattle:
Pros: The work, the people, and my boss. My job is not stressful and I'm given opportunities.
Cons: The pay could be higher. The company needs to start matching Seattle market salaries.
June 2015
A job all around.
Information Security Specialist:
Pros: In this job I get to put my knowledge, studies and abilities into use. My area —which is somewhat new— has become relevant within the enterprise and we're consulted on big decisions and taken into account to some degree. Personally, I get to deal (and be accountable for) a lot of different technologies regarding information and physical security of the enterprise assets.
Cons: My manager has the tendency to micromanage a lot and sometimes he is afraid of taking big decisions without full agreement of his superiors and peers, most of which don't care about the topic, and this stalls us as a team. Also, the lack of Security conscience in the company has been challenging and we've had to deal with lots of resistance and even sabotage.
