Information Architect:
Innovation – look for new ways to create or deliver information.
Standardization – look for existing methods or standards. Don’t “reinvent the wheel”, if something similar already exists!
Relevance – stay current on industry and technology trends. Try to learn some of the new technologies and how they might be applied.
Network – find out who the thought leaders are in your industry, try to meet them at industry conferences and via social media (LinkedIn, etc)
Involvement – contribute back to the industry (open source, standards, wikis, etc)
Marketing – you have a personal “brand identity”; get the word out about yourself and your skills.
Take the initiative – look for and ask about training opportunities, even if they may not directly apply to your current position.
Find the key conferences for your industry to attend. If the company won’t send you, be willing to send yourself!
Be Proactive – it’s your career, so you need to make the opportunities happen. Follow job lists to see.
