General / Operations Manager Reviews
What is it like working as a General / Operations Manager?
May 2015
Management structure.
General / Operations Manager:
Have a set schedule for the whole management team. In my opinion we need a general manager, not to run operations per say but to teach the leadership team how to act more like a team.
May 2015
Ensuring profit budgeted are achievable.
General / Operations Manager:
Balance between sales and operations. Ensure sales are achieved not at the expense of operational excellence.

Small business is a grind to get established.
General / Operations Manager:
First impressions matter. You are the leader, not a friend, never forget that. Its all flows from you; high tide raises all buoys. You must be that tide.
Stay positive and be patient, succes will come but not if you don't treat it like your llife and the the lives of others depend on it. You must work harder than everyone else and receive no praise.
Never lose the forest for the trees and focus on excellent customer service.
Like my granddad said, "Nothing beats hard work."

General / Operations Manager:
Allow your people to lead and don't micro manage.

Stay on top.
General / Operations Manager:
Pay attention to your staff, they are your lifeblood and will make you or break you. Do not try and be their friend always remember you ARE the boss be friendly not aloof. Lead by example and for heavens sake stay calm in all situations ..... If the world is ending ....make it look like you planned for it to end. Mistakes happen, situations spin out of control, no two days are ever going to go to plan, roll with it it's the car business. Love it , hate it it is just a business.

Busy days, and longer nights!
General / Operations Manager:
Pros: I love the customers! Those customers pay my paycheck and I always go out of my way to give that extra smile, or say hello, ask about there day! Being friendly is a must!
Cons: The hours! Some days you are there all day long, and as much as I love customers there are those that no after what you do you can't please them. So the best and the worst has to be that! Dealing with mean, mad, and angry people is hard.

Surviving in customer seRvice.
General / Operations Manager:
Have patience with both the customers and employees. You have to be empathetic rather than sympathetic.
