What is it like working as a Full Charge Bookkeeper?

Do more than think.

Making a Difference as a Full-Charge Bookkeeper.
Full Charge Bookkeeper:
Pros: I like the independence, having a key role in the company and the trust they place in me. I also enjoy that the organization of the information and procedures becomes my own. I am able to be the best I can be in a department I'm in charge of.
Cons: Working in a small company, I am normally the only one in Accounting. This creates a problem when I need time off. In the past at another company I had solved the problem, with a lot of effort, by creating an Accounting Instruction binder with detailed tasks for each area of my job. It served as insurance in the event someone else would have to temporarily step in and process payroll, pay bills, receive customer payments, etc. Without it, as in most companies, the Full-Charge Bookkeeper is indispensable.
Concerning the duties of the job, the HR responsibilities involving employee medical insurance are the least enjoyable.

Pressure.
Full Charge Bookkeeper:
I would say priorities before you start anything, always see whats more urgent than the next, if you can delegate work you do not have to do then do that, lighten your load and guide staff in the right direction do not keep knowledge to yourself as you might need someone one day.

Follow your passion.
Full Charge Bookkeeper:
Always remember that others may not understand your desire for precision and often may not be able to interpret the financial reports you supply. Be kind, you don't do their job.
December 2014
Full Charge Bookkeeper:
Know everything and more just short of a Controller's Title.
September 2014
Full Charge Bookkeeper:
Small company our state does not protect it's workers rights as a larger company would. Being ignored, discriminated against for gender only woman in office, overlooked no clarity about vacation or sick or personal time, basically not allowed to take time during work hours for doctor or other appointments schedule drastically changed after years no flexibility no flex time.
