Freelance Graphic Designer Reviews
What is it like working as a Freelance Graphic Designer?
April 2022
Endless opportunities!
Freelance Graphic Designer in Louisville:
Pros: Networking and meeting new clients expressing the help and value of my brand
Cons: The competition
August 2021
Freelance Graphic Designer in Cabo San Lucas:
Pros: I can work from home and I know the town like the back of my hand.
Cons: It's quite difficult, there's not much support from people who know me or my work
September 2020
Hard work, low pay.
Freelance Graphic Designer in Barcelona:
Pros: The city itself - cultural, beautiful, sunny.
Cons: The salary-taxes ratio. Cost of live is high and my catalan employers don't pay enough to cover the basic needs - rent by yourself an apartment, instead of sharing it with someone else. Have a car / motorcycle for work when it's needed, be able to go to a restaurant, bar, cafe and know you can afford it, several times per month. With a masters degree and years of experience to not get paid as a spanish, sorry catalan, in the service sector per say - a waiter (there is nothing wrong with the job) with no university education, when you spend so much on learning and improving (that's where the problem is), hoping they will throw in at least a bonus for your good work - they don't. I believe that salaries should be higher!
December 2019
I love being a South African based Graphic Designer.
Freelance Graphic Designer in Johannesburg:
Pros: The people and the city are both interesting and vibrant
Cons: Traffic and cultural/racial stigmas or taboos
May 2019
Satisfying.
Freelance Graphic Designer in Durban:
Pros: The hours are flexible
Cons: The self-restriction required to keep up with a tightly timed schedule
January 2019
Freelance Designer.
Freelance Graphic Designer in New York:
Pros: Good pay, excellent work/life balance, low-stress, well-equipped technology provided (tablets, monitors, latest MacBook Pros, etc.) Sometimes free swag/merch given out, pre-screenings, and events hosted.
Cons: Many "permalancers". Visual brand guidelines very set in stone means not always much opportunity for creative work.
October 2016
Opportunity for creative and relational growth.
Freelance Graphic Designer:
Pros: I enjoy the job/project diversity potential.
Cons: I don't enjoy not being around other people and other designers all day.
