Fire Fighter Reviews
What is it like working as a Fire Fighter?
July 2017
Fire Fighter in Wilmington:
Pros: Small community, amenities, fitness environment, beach, light traffic most times of the year.
Cons: Traffic during beach season/college orientation and graduation, poor drainage so results in flooding of usual spots, few opportunities for jobs outside of medicine, pharmaceuticals, construction, realty, and service jobs.

Hirearchy.
Fire Fighter in Victoria:
Besides requiring Courses to put you in a position to become a new Firefighter, understand that there is a pecking order, and, that you as a probie, must follow that pecking order, is important.
Understand that the Fire Department is built on Tradition and that that tradition is in place because it's been developed over a long period if time.
Listen to what your told, you will live longer.
Show respect for senior members, remember, they were where you are, and they may have influence with the powers that be in your regard.
Take as many courses as the employer will provide, and others available to you, both on your career path, and on human nature.
Be the first to volunteer to do anything your officer puts out there for the group, unless it's outside of you pay scale or job description at that particular time.
Keep the Galley clean, coffee on, garbage empty, dishes done, washrooms clean, and floors swept, mopped, or vacuumed, etc.
Ask lots of questions.
November 2016
Respond to all types of emergency inside the plant.
Fire Fighter:
Pros: This is my passion, I started as a volunteer fire fighter in the Philippines since 2000 and up to now I`m still part of the said organization while working here in other country. Helping other people in need where there was a calamity, disaster or fire emergency without any hesitation and not waiting any return for the person.
Cons: When im already tired because of a lot reponse.

Poverty First.
Fire Fighter:
You Realize how poverty feels when you have a professional job such as a firefighter. Most fire departments have a schedule where you work so many hour then your off so many hours. Well you need that amount of off time to stay mentally and physically happy. You don't need that time off to work another partime job. We work to much just to live in poverty. Just realize that and do the best you can to help those who need you...

Do not work for the City of Delray Beach.
Fire Fighter:
The City of Delray Beach views its employees as a burden rather than the assets that they are. The City of Delray Beach is an abusive and dishonest employer who will lure applicants in with the promise of competitive salaries and benefits and then fail to deliver. They have frozen wages, cut benefits and taken away holidays for the last 6 years. Some coworkers have not had a raise in 9 years. 9 years. Now, they are dangling the possibility of a raise but only if the can gut the pension. They are truly a disgusting group to work for. Do not waste your time with them.
