Film / Video Editor Reviews

What is it like working as a Film / Video Editor?

March 2021
Lack of Vision.
Film / Video Editor in Cleveland:
Pros: I enjoy the creative freedom that I have on my projects and coming up with everything from the script to the final edit.
Cons: There doesn't seem to be a unified vision for where the company is headed other than "sell more cars!" and if there is, I'm not included in it. It makes it incredibly difficult to deliver effective ads and video content when I don't know what I'm even aiming for. I'm just here to make videos, and that's it, apparently.

Working in Singapore is Great.
Film / Video Editor in Singapore:
Pros: I like how easy it is to get to places
Cons: I don't like how crowded the trains are sometimes
January 2021
Hard work.
Film / Video Editor in Cape Town:
Pros: Reaching more people through Technology
Cons: Not clear communication, people not being let go, when they not serving a purpose
January 2021
Stressful, unappreciated, underpaid.
Film / Video Editor in Yukon:
Pros: I get to video edit, which I love doing.
Cons: Not being paid well for the skills I provide
January 2021
Creative, fun and space for growth at best, but not without competition & some hard work.
Film / Video Editor in Los Angeles:
Pros: Creative and relaxed atmosphere
Cons: Competitive and easy to get lost in the 'bubble'
January 2021
I love living here, but opportunities are shallow.
Film / Video Editor in Jacksonville:
Pros: I love the beach, the river, and the busyness. I don't want to move, even if it means that I am stuck in the same place of work for a very long time. I would basically never move for work, no matter the pay or opportunity. I love my job, but I really love where I live. If I moved, it would be for a new lifestyle, not a change/new career.
Cons: There are definitely worse places to work in video media than Jacksonville, but it is not the ideal city for this line of work. There are few other businesses that are growing quickly or that need a person with my skills (I have not looked into this at all, I am simply assuming)
December 2020
Small town feel with some big town amenities.
Film / Video Editor in Conway:
Pros: Quality of life elements in the city
Cons: Southern mentality
