Executive Director, Non-Profit Organization Reviews

What is it like working as an Executive Director, Non-Profit Organization?

October 2015
Helping people in small town.
Executive Director, Non-Profit Organization:
Pros: I absolutely love my job and working with people in our small town. They come to us with such stress and feeling of desperation and we get them set on the right track for success. I also love being in charge of my great team of two workers. We have become good friends.
Cons: The bad part of the job is the stress of trying to help all the people choose the right paths in life. Most of the people we help are poverty level or lower and trying to get them to follow the path to succeed in life can be frustrating. I also do not like that I cannot make ends meet nor can my staff.

Attitudes toward non-profit leadership wages.
Executive Director, Non-Profit Organization:
Realize there is a pervasive attitude that leaders in the non-profit world should not make very much money for their work. You will constantly need to defend your value and worth and the work of your organization.
September 2015
Try to avoid a micromanaging board.
Executive Director, Non-Profit Organization:
Contract should outline job description, not hours limitation.
May 2015
More about fund raising.
Executive Director, Non-Profit Organization:
Use all your contacts, work everyday to meet leaders in our community, remain positive and always have goals so you know where you are going. Perks of this job are endless because the people/patients you meet have been diagnosed with the worst cancers in the world but they effect the most wonderful women you will ever meet. What we do at WGCA is save lives and I go home everyday feeling like I have worked to accomplish something significant.

Know Your Duties.
Executive Director, Non-Profit Organization:
