Estimator, Construction Reviews
What is it like working as an Estimator, Construction?
November 2017
Fleeced.
Estimator, Construction in Lynnwood:
I wish I had known that my employer would not follow-thru with promises made at the onset of my employment.
January 2016
Not something that I want to do over the long term.
Estimator, Construction:
Pros: My communication skills received a substantial amount of practice, since estimating also involves a lot of talking to suppliers, subcontractors, clients and consulting engineers.
This not only took my out of my comfort zone conversation-wise, but also tested my knowledge of various topics in the civil engineering industry.
Cons: This is not a job that I see myself in over the long run. I find that this position does not provide enough challenges and may become boring at times.
If I am to stay at this company (in the construction industry), I would like to grow into the position of contract manager.
If this company cannot provide me with the opportunity to grow, I will look for greener pastures in the civil engineering consulting industry.

Never let the Sale/Customer wait for their estimate.

October 2015
Pay Attention to the Details.
Estimator, Construction:
I would advise any new estimator to develop a habit of getting all the details of the project they are estimating. Knowledge about the project is key when estimating in order to cover cost and reduce risk for the company.
June 2015
Cat eats dog.

September 2014
Fun, challenging,
Estimator, Construction:
Pros: Meeting new people, control of my own projects.
Cons: Some time very long and hard hours, being on call.
May 2014
Good Money, Long Hours And Can Be Stressful.
