What is it like working as an Elementary School Teacher?

September 2014
Look For A Good Principal.
Elementary School Teacher:
Look for a good school and principal who lets you do your job and walk away from a micromanager. It takes the fun out of the job unless you do that.

How Much Are You Worth?
Elementary School Teacher:
Remember that passion does not pay the bills. If you want to change the lives of young children, remember that when challenges within the work place arise. Make sure you get validation, support, and acknowledgment for your efforts and hard work. Do not allow modesty to prevent you from getting your just due.

4th-6th Grade Math Teacher.
Elementary School Teacher:
Pros: I love working with children everyday and the ability to have about two months in the summer off for my family.
Cons: The pay at my job seems cut-rate. I feel that the administration is miserly considering that I teach Math and that is a high-demand area in education. I was told that I would receive an additional stipend for teaching Math and another stipend for being the Math Specialist for our campus. However, those were withheld from me because of "budget concerns."
December 2013
Love children.
Elementary School Teacher:
To deal with young children in a learning environment, you must be well organized, patient, and intuitive. You must enjoy young children and not be bothered by bits of chaos during the day. This is the most rewarding job in the world... but it is definitely not for everyone!
October 2013
