Electronics Technician Reviews

What is it like working as an Electronics Technician?

October 2019
Electronics Technician in Bloomfield:
“We get what we can afford, not what we need”. Ganesh Moorthy, our President and Chief Operating Officer said this to our site in our first meeting with him. True to his word, we almost never have what we need, nor is there hardly any forward progress on that front. However, as a company who has an extremely conservative view on what it can afford, they never seem to bite off more that they can chew. From the view in the trenches, it is nice to know that even though he next recession is on the horizon, there is a very good chance that the overwhelming majority of us will retain out employment no matter how bad things get. But, they are very likely to make/force you to leave if you ever want a raise. The average raise at my site this year was about 1%. And it was the first raise in 3 years. So, stability yes, desire to stay… varying. If you apply with Microchip, get the highest possible starting wage as you will likely not ever get a raise worth a darn. As with any company there are pros and cons. Some things I really appreciate about Microchip, others make me and many coworkers look for greener pastures. Oh well… we all get taken to the slaughterhouse eventually.
