Electrical Design Engineer:
Pros: Interesting, exciting projects. I am given quite a bit of freedom. They paid for my Master's degree, engineering license, certifications and training that will get me a better job with the pay I deserve. The benefits are nice but they are the same benefits every company offers and the amount I pay for health insurance is quite high.
Cons: The pay is way too low. No promotions. They expect you to work overtime for the terrible pay. They absolutely need an engineer with a Master's degree to work on the projects but they only want to pay someone as entry level with a Bachelor's degree. I have to watch everyone I graduated with (I was in the top 10 of my class), be promoted to senior engineers and make 15k + more in the same location I live in, meanwhile, I have more job responsibilities. One of my projects received praise from the CEO of the company and I am still paid this poorly. I am working, have worked and they hope I will work on several products this company is excited to earn millions on, sometimes I am the main engineer and do the bulk of the work on the project. I did not receive a pay raise for obtaining my Master's degree (even though while I was earning it, I was told that I would, and my overall GPA was a 3.7) and the degree is completely relevant and absolutely needed for the work I am given.
