Director of Publications Reviews

What is it like working as a Director of Publications?

April 2015
Great ministry. Undervalued technical skill and position.
Director of Publications:
Pros: Working with people. Working in ministry. Bigger purpose at work than simply creating art and publications. Large organization with many departments. Vast array of tasks and jobs that take place weekly. Creativity is encouraged within the position. I get to employ my affinity for marketing in all that I do whether building a brand or recommending strategic direction for the marketing of projects for individual departments. I enjoy diagosing the needs of departments and building the creative vision for the future. Planning and organizing of numerous projects and departments, keeps me constantly on my toes. Requires a likeable high level of personal communication to my clients. AND for the most part I get to work with genuine people.
Cons: Small mindedness, lack of technology and understanding, garage sale mentality, overworked, no help, low pay, seasoned church cultural ethic. Lack of cohesion and communication amongst departments = fragmented.
