Daycare Provider Reviews

What is it like working as a Daycare Provider?

May 2016
Patience.
Daycare Provider:
Patience is the key to helping children learn their full potential. They respond incredibly well to positive reinforcement and a happy, calm demeanor. If your daycare children are happy than their parents are happy. Word of mouth is the best advertisement!

Good/Bad.
Daycare Provider:
Pros: Changes everyday. Never boring. Creative. Personal satisfaction in knowing your are responsible in the development and self-esteem in a child. Flexible daily schedule in what you decide. You run your business the way you want it.
Cons: (Some) Parent's lack of "respect" for your job. They don't seem to "value" you and your work. Some parents lack of respect to your time schedule - drop off times and pick ups. The lack of respect towards your "personal" time... They will call or text at any time of day "after" work hours during your family time or even dinner hours. Physically and mentally tiring by the end of the day. Isolation from adult life and conversations. Next to impossible to take any time off work and when you do, some parents give you a hard time about it. No paid days off. Therefore hard to go without pay for a 2 week summer holiday or even 1 week at Christmas time. I usually can't afford it. No medical benefits. No retirement plan. Lots of office work, filing, accounting, planing of programs schedules, newsletters, etc...

Cons: I must make sure of my pay. I cannot rely on anything other than what I provide.
