Critical Care Paramedic Reviews

What is it like working as a Critical Care Paramedic?

March 2021
Diamond in the rough.
Critical Care Paramedic in Milwaukee:
Pros: Pay starts decent, but you also have the opportunity for many raises. Good Benefits, Pet Insurance, GREAT 401(k) program. Company actually seems to care for employees, management has your back.
Cons: Working with some of the other area services can be a hassle. Treated by city workers as second class citizens. Driving in Milwaukee has become a hazard in it's own right.

Taken Advantage Of.
Critical Care Paramedic in Stillwater:
Pros: Great mix of 911 to transfer ratio keeps you well rounded in all aspects of the job
Cons: Very top heavy administrative team that treats employees as inventory. When one is used up, discard it and grab a new one off the shelf. Pay is not merit based so performance means nothing. A lazy employee will advance the same as an outstanding employee that contributes to the betterment of the organization. Unfortunately, the bottom line will ALWAYS take priority over patient advocacy.

Earn It.
Critical Care Paramedic:
Coming into the fire service or EMS you must work hard and earn your spot on the team. Too many rookies are coming in and think they deserve the same as the senior guys. The senior guys worked hard for what they have. You will be respected and work your way up the ladder faster if you don't think that you deserve to be at the top of the ladder.
