Copy Center Supervisor Reviews
What is it like working as a Copy Center Supervisor?
December 2014
The Low Down.
Copy Center Supervisor:
Pros: The best parts of this job is the learning opportunities and the hours. I am able to maintain a consistent schedule because the bulk of the customer orders take place Monday - Friday during the day. This allows me greater freedom to plan vacations, family visits, or even spending time with friends. I also learned a significant amount about pre-press, operating printing and binding equipment, managing other staff who work at another time (non-overlapping shifts), ordering and inventory, and basic supervisorial tasks found in a retail enviroment - key carrier, end-of-day cash counting/closeout, and tasking.
Like many customer service orrientated jobs, you have regular customers who you love and are a breeze to work with and those who are not so pleasant.
Cons: My job title got downgraded to being a non-official supervisor. I am no longer technically responsible for anything other than my daily tasking and being an "expert". In reality, my job remains the same but I am no longer eligible for bonuses and my actual duties are not mentioned in the job description.
Quite a bit of my job entails working with other employees who are undertrained and who I do not have the training time/hours/dollars to quickly advance their training. I find myself answering phone calls and texts outside of work. (This may be location based, but the problem of undertrained and low budget is very epidemic in all other branches of my company.)
I also feel like the continuing training for the position is not there and most of the job, after the intial training period, is kinda figure-it-out on your own. A very high percentage of managers have no idea what happens in the print center located in the store and are unable to give assistance.
