Pros: Estimating, winning project work, and providing a service to the client.
Cons: Losing work to under valued bids.

Construction Estimator:
Pros: I enjoy the flexibility, challenge and versatility. Planning and designing, and being involved on projects ranging from small buildings, to hospitals to professional sporting venues.
Cons: Being the smallest piece on the totem pole. In the chemical treatment world, you are the smallest piece of the project that nobody bothers with until something goes wrong, then blame is assigned before a solution is found.

Be Prepared To Be Behind Your Desk Most Of The Time.
Construction Estimator:
Be prepared for the roller-coaster ride. Up the up when you receive the tender and the stress when it gets closer to the submission date. The hardest thing I have to deal with is a poor scope of works and or lack of design. I actually really enjoy the slog of the estimate, I.e. The take off, planning/methodology, agreeing outputs and the actual pricing exercise.
