Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) Operator and Programmer:
The job starts out slow, but gradually becomes more interesting as more time goes on. Be prepared to do "grunt" work as a beginner. Ask A LOT of questions, and don't be afraid to do your job. You will scrap parts, I promise you that, but be sure to learn from your mistakes. Learn as much as you can about the product you make. This will better you and make you more valuable. Learn as many machines as you can. Flexibility in machining skills is becoming a key asset in manufacturing, so learn as much as you can. As new technology is introduced to the industry, do what you can to learn it. Manufacturing is based on technology, if you don't know the technology, you won't have a job. Don't take criticism to heart, but use it to become a better, more efficient operator/programmer. Attention to detail is an absolute must.
