Compliance Manager Reviews
What is it like working as a Compliance Manager?
August 2016
The umbrella that catches all.
Compliance Manager:
Don't be afraid to dive in, a lot of what you will do is new industry standards. There is no manual for right or wrong. In Cloud computing certification we are leading the way to help certifying bodies understand the regulation that should be standard. A lot of the time it will be like fitting a square peg into a round hole.
While maintaining and developing new core corporate controls, we also have a duty to not let the external commercial compliance certifications fall into the cracks. ISO, SOC, HITRUST, PCI, HIPPA.
Maintain and develop internal controls. You will have an entire internal auditing team who will test your implementation of corporate controls company wide. They will provide the assurance internally and to you so you can provide the external trust to third party auditing firms as well as customers.
You will work with multiple 3rd party certifying bodies to insure trust with all commercial audits obtained domestically and internationally by IBM IaaS.
Good luck.

Understanding that while work is important to the company, you'll have to push information and create and present your own value proposition for your role.

Very interesting, always learning, need to be agile and nimb.
Compliance Manager:
Pros: Meeting new people, continuous learning.
Cons: Lack of clarity, not recognized for extent of expertise.
January 2016
Unrewarding.
Compliance Manager:
Pros: I enjoy working with some of the people who work at either location.
Cons: Employees do not take me seriously as a member of management. Other members of management take advantage of me to carry out tasks they are capable of doing, which pulls me away from my day to day tasks. I also take on more responsibilities that are not directly related to my position.

Always ask why.
Compliance Manager:
To be a good manager you always need to understand why a process is being completed and does it add value. If a process is not adding value, make sure you are not requiring this process to be completed. Companies are in the business of making money, and processes should help companies achieve this goal.
