November 2016
There is a lot to learn.
Clinical Research Coordinator:
Pros: Patient interaction.
Cons: Small group. Hostile eviroment. Favoritism.
September 2016
Clinical research.
Clinical Research Coordinator:
Pros: I enjoy the patient interactions and the quality of life improvements I witness in patients health. I like that the job has a good combination of research and scientific drug development as well as patient care. The process of new drug development is interesting to me and I enjoy the field of pulmonology.
Cons: The negative work environment built by management and the stressful nature of a highly regulated job. The all clinical research is highly regulated by 3 different entities and monitored on a daily basis. The nature of deadlines leads to a stressful work environment for myself and my coworkers.
September 2016
Work flexibility.
Clinical Research Coordinator:
Pros: I like the work flexibility because I have to manage my own schedule and coordinate between the different departments on a regular basis. This is not a desk-bound job (there will be times when I have to deal with a lot of administrative issues as well), but most of the time, I am on the move. Meeting many interesting people would also be considered one of the highlights of this job.
Cons: The stress level is definitely top of the list because coordination work is never easy. People don't always treat you as kindly as you'd like to be treated, administrative issues getting in the way of your progress, and the most stressful would be the pressure of having to hit the recruitment numbers.
May 2015
Clinical Research Coordinator:
Pros: I love my patients .The time you spend is so much better in terms of quality. I feel like we are providing " concierge medicine" in a sense. They can call and be seen anytime, and we can spend more time on disease education.
Cons: The stress level. Your job is never done and the rules change constantly. I love patient care but in research you have to constantly consider the legalities of everything you do.
